RED DIRT RUMBLE TO BE HOTLY CONTESTED!

In what is the final official meeting on the 2024/25 LMRWA season calendar, the cars have certainly come out to play in the red dirt, a solid nineteen nominations received for this weekend’s Red Dirt Rumble at Kalgoorlie International Speedway.

In what will be the fifth year of the event, three of the previous four winners are in the field including inaugural winner Kye Blight (Kye Blight Racing), Joe Chalmers (Team BCM Motorsport:), and defending champion Michael Holmes (Michael Holmes Racing).

All three have the chance at creating history this weekend, looking to be the first to get their names on the trophy twice. Blight won the Australian Title this season and since then has been on a charge at every event he has contested, including recently dominating the Easter events at Albany, while Chalmers was right on his tail at every turn and would love to finish in front this time around.

Holmes however has had a quieter season and being in a different car this weekend will need a little time to adapt, though come feature time he will surely be right on the pace.

Damian Hudson (Hudson Racing Team) claimed the last feature race at Kalgoorlie, and after it took him years to achieve that feat at his home track, he will be keen to defend his turf and go back-to-back tomorrow night.

Warren Oldfield (Oldfield Racing) also has an impressive history at the Kalgoorlie track: racing to a number of Pro Dirt Series victories, not to mention a WA Title win. He will also be aboard a different car this weekend, having recently acquired the ex-Freddy Kinsella machine, but having cut some practice laps on Wednesday, should be well and truly ready to go.

Ryan Huxtable, Abbey Pickering and eastern states visitor Bruce Mackenzie complete the Pro Dirt invasion, with fellow series competitor, local David Boyes looking to show them exactly how to get around the Kalgoorlie venue while Greg Horan also makes the trek from Esperance to compete.

There are plenty of other Kalgoorlie locals hoping to keep the invaders at bay: Mat Robbins and Ben Strautins having claimed feature race wins at the venue this season already and hoping to add to that tally this weekend while event/track organisers Jeff Pahl and Shaun Cubbage would also love to add their names to their local tracks premier event.

With plenty of other names also dotted through the field, this weekend will be hotly contested. Prize money throughout the field, a thirty-five lap feature, plenty of contingency awards and an exciting format will certainly make for an entertaining night of action at the Kalgoorlie Speedway tomorrow!
